About 19 minutes into the first episode of season 4 of the hit ABC series Desperate Housewives, Susan (played by Teri Hatcher), while in denial about approaching menopause, says "Wait, before we go on. Can I just check those diplomas because I'd like to make sure they're not from some medical school in the Philippines."
To ABC and the scriptwriters and Ms. Hatcher:
That isn't very nice of you to say about doctors from my country. Surely, you could've phrased that is a better way. You wouldn't want a movie to be saying things about your hard-working professionals that way, wouldn't you?
ey if u dont mind i reposted the issue on my blogs, thanks for the heads up, the writers are fault. i hope someday the smarty pants writer who drummed up this idea has a filipino physical therapist, filipino nurse, and filipino doctor (like former president clinton used to have) when this writer gets old
ReplyDeleteno prob... spread the word so they know we won't stand for it. ABC issued an apology but won't air it in the next episode, nor have they promised to delete the remark from the future copies of the episodes. tsk... tsk... tsk...
