THE GLASS MENAGERIE

Actors are invited to audition for the roles of Tom Wingfield and the
Gentleman Caller. The chosen actors will play opposite Laurice
Guillen, who will play Amanda, and her real life daughter, Ina Feleo,
who will play Laura.
Actors are expected to read or deliver from memory a monologue from
the play, and to exchange line readings with another character of the
play. It is preferred that the actor playing the Gentleman Caller
knows how to dance, although dance auditions will be scheduled at a
separate date.
Tanghalang Ateneo's production resets the play in 1950s Manila, a
time of reconstruction after a devastating world war, a time when
people struggle to put their lives together again, but thanks in part
to Hollywood films being shown in newly built movie palaces, can
dream of brighter days ahead.
Ricardo Abad directs and Salvador Bernal designs the production.
Rehearsals start in November 2006. Performances are scheduled for
four weekends starting January 18, 2007.
